Summer excursions to Meteora Monasteries

The Meteora is a formation of unique and enormous columns of rock rise precipitously from the ground, above Kalambaka. Its name literally means “Suspended in the Air” and it is strongly associated with one of the greatest complexes of Orthodox monasteries.

Tour Details

Our tour to Meteora takes place approximately once a week. Our pick up transfers start at 06:00am from our office in Pefki and then from Neos Pirgos and Loutra Edipsos with destination the port of Agiokampos.

The ferry from the port of Agiokampos departs at 08:00 for Glifa. Once we reach Glifa, we will need approximately 3 hours to arrive at Meteora. Of course, in the middle of our route there will be a short stop for coffee and snacks.

Around noon, we are arriving at Meteora. We will be able to visit two of the monasteries and our tour there, will last approximately 2 hours. Please note that depending on the time of the year, there are different monasteries open for the public - therefore, please be advised by the 2016 program which is available below.

The final destination of our “Meteora Tour” is the city of Kalampaka, which is located right below Meteora and offers dramatic view to the rock cliffs. We will have 2 hours of free time to explore the city, have lunch, drink coffee or make shopping, whatever you prefer and we will meet again around 16:00.

We will be arriving at Glifa port approximately at 19:00 and take the ferry of 20:00. Then, our team will take you back to the initial meeting points of Loutra Edipsos, Neos Pirgos & Pefki.
